Must-Have Security: Smart Doorbells
Smart doorbells greatly enhance home security by allowing you to see who is at your door, whether you’re home or away. Smart doorbells typically include a high-definition camera, motion sensors, and night vision. They will send an alert to your smartphone app (and home ringer, if desired) whenever a person is at your door or when motion is detected, such as a person walking past your home.
Most smart doorbells have built-in speakers and microphones which allow you to speak directly to visitors even if you’re not home. You’ll know if you even want to answer the door. If you recognize the visitor, you can speak directly to them if you’re not available to answer the door at that moment.
To combat package theft, smart doorbells can alert you when a package is delivered so that you can quickly bring the package inside. The doorbell also keeps a visual record of when packages are delivered which can be helpful if a delivery is missing.

The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that a smart thermostat can lower your heating bills by 10-12%, and your cooling bills by up to 15% by adjusting your thermostat when you’re not home. This can work in a few different ways:

2) Geo-Fencing. Some smart thermostats use location services to know that you’re away and will automatically adjust the temperature accordingly.
3) Motion Sensors. Similarly, some thermostats use motion sensors to determine if you’re home.

Smart locks and Wi-Fi garage door openers allow you to lock and unlock doors right from your phone.
