A Local Guide to Harleysville: Exploring the Area Around Jacobs Way

Kay Builders, a trusted homebuilder in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas since 1961, is excited to be building The Fields at Jacobs Way, our new Luxury Townhome community in Harleysville, Pennsylvania. This quiet, serene community is set on gentle fields and features 42 townhomes with elegant exteriors and multiple floor plan options.

Since this is our first community in beautiful Montgomery County, we thought we’d take a look at things to see and do in the area, and share some of the reasons why Harleysville, Pennsylvania is such a great place to live.

First and foremost, it’s all about location, location, location!

Positioned in central Montgomery County, Harleysville is a peaceful retreat that’s convenient to virtually everywhere. It’s close to major roads like Skippack Pike (Route 73), Route 63, and Route 113, and has easy access to local highways including the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Route 309.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike recently added slip lanes near the Lansdale Interchange for even faster, easier access, so you can enter and exit the turnpike at Lansdale with virtually no delay.

Harleysville is surrounded by important amenities, including groceries at nearby local favorite Henning's Market, a 6th generation, family-owned and operated, independent retailer that’s been operating since 1889… health services at Grandview Healthcare… and lots of great shopping spots. The area is served by the highly-rated Souderton Area School District.  

Working in Philadelphia or want to do a day trip?

You can drive to Center City in under an hour or take the convenient Septa Regional Rail. Parking is available at the nearby Lansdale Train Station. Take the train to 30th Street or Suburban Station to transfer to any Septa line to get anywhere in the city easily.

Prefer a day with nature?

Harleysville is surrounded by great parks:

● Daniel Roth Park has a fishing pond (stocked with trout every Spring!), playground, gazebo, and pavilion.

● Upper Salford Park offers a fun playground, great picnic spots, soccer, softball, and baseball fields, a volleyball pit, tennis and pickleball courts, and an 18-hole Frisbee/Disc Golf course. There are 4 miles of trails that snake through a beautiful butterfly garden.

● Evansburg State Park has some of the best hiking around, with over 15 miles of epic hiking and biking trails.  

● Green Lane Park features boating in the Green Lane Reservoir, hiking, fishing, tennis, plus miles of jogging and biking trails. Want a fitness challenge? Start riding the Perkiomen Trail at Green Lane and head south. You can connect to the Schuylkill River Trail and keep riding. The trail goes all the way to Philadelphia!

Ready to hit the golf links?

There are a bunch of challenging courses nearby including Lederach Golf Course, Mainland Golf Course, and Skippack Golf Club. When you’re ready to expand your horizons, you’ll find many more courses within a 20-minute drive.

Looking for dining and entertainment? 

You can enjoy a variety of fine and casual dining (plus great shopping!) at quaint Skippack Village. Check out the craft beers at Blueprint Brewing, Harleysville’s first craft brewery. Enjoy cozy comfort food at The Butcher and Barkeep, or celebrate local history (and great food) at The Harleysville Hotel.
